A very special wedding at Goodwood House

We had been looking forward photographing and filming yesterday’s wedding for a long time…..not the Royal Wedding at Westminster, but the wedding of Gemma and Piete at Goodwood House. Kate and William chose their wedding date once they heard of Gemma and Piete’s decision we are led to understand!

This was a very special wedding for us as we have worked with Gemma on many occasions in her role as wedding planner at Goodwood, which is our favourite venue. Yesterday it was Gemma’s turn to shine and she did exactly that looking radiant in a flowing Maggie Sottero dress. Piete was looking very handsome and every bit the Prince of the day. The ceremony took place in the Long Hall with five readings and lovely personal vows exchanged by the couple.

Threatened showers stayed away until the end of the night and guests were able to enjoy drinks outside the front of the House. After dinner the speeches were both funny and moving, particularly the two surprise messages from Little Nan and Nana Joyce who were not able to be at the wedding in person. In the evening the live band ‘Stars’ really got the party going and Gemma and Piete left on the vintage bus through the Driveway Rain of fireworks.

It was an amazing day, everything we had imagined and more and we wish Gemma and Piete all the very best for the future and we look forward to working with Gemma at plenty more weddings in the future. We hope you like these sneaky peek photos from the day and check back for the video highlights coming soon…..

Goodwood House weddings

Weddings at Goodwood House never fail to impress, from the moment you drive into the beautifully manicured grounds you feel the sense of occasion that unfolds before you. Entering the turning circle to be welcomed by the butler at the front door as he opens your car door and escorts you into the magnificent hallway is a feeling that thousands of people have had over the years but it’s never anything less than special every time.

Goodwood Estate really knows how to put on an amazing event be it a wedding, party or another event the staff know how to look after you and your guests. To be a part of your own special place in this house’s history, I urge you to take a look around Goodwood if you are planning a wedding at Goodwood House or other potential venues in Sussex.

About Goodwood House

Goodwood House is one of the most prestigious wedding venues in West Sussex. The Regency country house sits at the foot of the South Downs a short drive from Chichester and has been the home of the Dukes of Richmond for more than 300 years. Couples have the run of grand state rooms including the Egyptian Dining Room, Tapestry Drawing Room and Long Hall, with the estate’s 12,000 acres of parkland stretching out beyond.

Country houses like this one reward a photographer who knows where to find good light. I spend time during the day finding the windows that flood the main rooms with soft, directional light and pairing those with the grounds outside for couple portraits. If the weather turns, interiors this rich stand on their own without needing a blue sky.
