Welcome to Barrie Downie photography. Barrie is a Sussex based photographer who works in all areas of the UK, Born in scotland and always happy to travel back to photograph your wedding.

My style is a fusion of contemporary reportage and traditional styles. I do not put myself in the 'reportage photographer' box, as I believe that each wedding needs an individual approach. Part of my role, as your wedding photographer is to understand how you would like your day to be recorded and to deliver photographs that you will treasure.

Wedding photography should not be just about recording events as they happen. Frankly, anybody can do this. Where a photographer shows what he or she is made of comes when the ordinary is transformed into the extraordinary and that is what I feel I achieve.

Groups of people can be thought of as a wedding photography cliché but they are important as a wedding is one of the few times when families and friends are all together so I do like to make sure I include this element of the day. I do however like to make sure this is completed as quickly and unobtrusively as possible so we do not interrupt the natural flow and spontaneity of the day.
