Wedding invitations with style
We were so impressed with the wedding stationary that Adorn Invitations produced for Vanessa Williams wedding to Jim Skrip that we just had to share them with you. We asked Adorn to tell us about how they went about the design and production of some of the finest wedding invites we have ever seen!.
Vanessa Williams’ Wedding Invitation
Here at Adorn Invitations we like to approach every order as a personal project. Therefore when Vanessa Williams and Jim Skrip contacted Adorn to design their wedding invitations, we endeavoured to find as much information about the couple as possible before beginning their design process. It was at this stage that we were informed of their international love story, which sparked during their first meeting whilst holidaying in Egypt.
We had Vanessa put together wedding inspiration boards on Pinterest, we also worked closely with their wedding planner Carla Measer-Costamagna to ensure that we were familiar with their entire wedding decor. The couple had chosen to have their wedding represent their history together; therefore an Egyptian theme was present throughout.
Our designers devoted months to researching and gathering inspiration on colour combinations, textures, patterns, materials etc. We worked through mood boards and idea collaborations and had much communication back and forth with the couple before coming to a mutual design.
The invitation was designed to replicate Vanessa’s wedding dress, the golden laser cut gates that framed her gold foiled wording matched the pattern from one of Vanessa’s wedding dresses that were designed by Carmen Marc Valvo.
The colours used throughout the invitations and matching stationary were gold and Marsala, Pantone’s colour of the year. These colours were present throughout all of the couple’s wedding décor, from their wedding cake right through to their table settings.
To complete the invitation, the Adorn team hand applied a 14-carat gold-plated Lotus leaf to the front of every invite. This finishing touch was created to match the lotus leaf that Jim had included on the engagement ring that he designed for Vanessa; the leaf itself held a special meaning to the couple as it represents eternity.
Wedding invitations are now available in so many exciting new ways, long gone are the days of a plain white card with an RSVP with the date on it. With intricate designs and even 3d pop up invitations showing the venue of the wedding or maybe the church or luxury wedding venue, anything is possible these days.
